THE JOB:

The Entertainment Technician Wardrobe Stagehand is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems related to wardrobe, costumes, and other stagecraft disciplines supporting live performances. This role ensures all technical aspects run smoothly and efficiently, particularly during fast-paced costume changes and demanding show conditions. All tasks must be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures, while upholding the safety and artistic standards of the production.

STARTING RATE:$38.55 an hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Wardrobe Maintenance: Involves maintaining, cleaning, and repairing costumes to ensure they are show-ready, including sewing, alterations, and costume upkeep.

  • Costume Handling and Quick Changes: Managing and executing fast-paced costume changes during performances, requiring speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Theater Maintenance: Performing inspections and repairs of wardrobe-related equipment, such as sewing machines, costume racks, and other wardrobe elements, as assigned or approved per track.

  • Special Event Setup: Assisting with the setup and teardown of wardrobe elements for special events, including prepping costumes, steaming, and organizing dressing areas.

  • Cue Track Execution: Running wardrobe-related cue tracks during live performances, collaborating with audio, lighting, props, and other disciplines to maintain seamless production.

  • Professional Relationships: Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external guests, including MGMRI, our resident show partner, and talent booked into the theater.

  • Artistic Vision Maintenance: Ensuring the Artistic Vision set by the Talent/Artist is upheld, following MGMRI and Department Guidelines, while collaborating across departments to maintain creative integrity.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other job-related duties as requested.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational experience.

  • Experience: 3+ years of prior relevant experience working in live shows, technical theater, and/or showrooms, ideally in a college or resort setting.

  • Availability: Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and all major holidays.

  • Work Environment: Must be able to work in a live theater setting with fast-paced set changes, sound and lighting effects, requiring constant focus and strenuous physical activity.

  • Certifications: OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.

  • Wardrobe Experience: Proven experience in managing and maintaining costumes, including alterations, repairs, and costume care.

  • Sewing and Alterations: Skilled in sewing and costume alteration techniques, including hand and machine sewing, with the ability to execute on-the-spot repairs during performances.

  • Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using wardrobe-specific tools and equipment, such as sewing machines, irons, steamers, and fabric care tools, with strong safety awareness.

  • Collaborative Skills: Experience working closely with performers, stage management, and other technical departments to ensure costume needs are met efficiently.

  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest quality standards for costumes, ensuring they align with the artistic vision of the production.
