Assistant Distribution CAD Operator 1

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant CAD Operator 1. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, computer-aided drafting (CAD) experience, and excellent communication skills. This position reports out of our Transmission group.

Essential Job Duties:

• Design and permit transmission lines, including drawing preparation, bill of materials development, material ordering, and conducting field visits.
• Ability to conduct field visits and use information to create drawings.
• Utilize various software to create overhead and underground electrical transmission designs.
• Follow local utility and construction standards.
• Ability to learn, retain and apply on the job training and use design software packages efficiently.
• Ability to work effectively in design teams.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Experience

• At least 1 Years of Experience in Construction and/or CADD
• Understanding of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or related drafting software.
• General construction knowledge and aptitude.
• Must be detail-oriented and maintain professionalism. We provide a "Client First" approach to all interactions.

General Characteristics

• Able to identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate these issues of concern tohis or her supervisor
• Able to take and follow verbal instruction

Minimum Years of Experience

• 1+ Years of Experience

Education

• High School Diploma required
• Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School preferred

Technical Responsibilities

• Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits.Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office function such as printing and folding drawings

Project and Task Management

• Responsible for personal task management and adherence todeadlines and scope

Management Responsibility

• No Management responsibilities.
• More independent completion ofwork assignments

Communication Skills

• Possess basic oral and written communication skills. interacts effectively with other staff. Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others
