Pay

$25.74 - $31.61 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Plus $2.00 / hr shift premium for 3rd shift hours

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Process Mechanic - Multi Skilled to join our plant engineering team. A Process Mechanic, Multi-Skilled performs corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, setup and changeovers, mechanical adjustments to the production process equipment and supplemental process equipment including repairs of basic electrical, fabrication, and plumbing repairs of the equipment and modifications to the equipment and processes.

  • Perform equipment setups for all process equipment
  • Timely failure diagnosis, trouble-shooting, and repair of all process equipment in a Multi-Skilled environment
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and perform minor electrical repairs to process equipment
  • Provide technical assistance to Production
  • Rebuild equipment and components on a routine basis
  • Modify process equipment when necessary to improve performance and reliability
  • Work additional hours, during other days or shifts, as needed
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities using proper methods that prevent and in no way contribute to product contamination
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities using safe techniques, procedures, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Operate all process equipment, required tools, vehicles and computers necessary to trouble-shoot and repair
  • Keep maintenance records using the MAXIMO computerized maintenance system, forms, and work orders
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other technicians and personnel, verbally and electronically, in order to efficiently work as a team to repair and maintain all process equipment, and in order to inform customers and others affected by maintenance activities
  • Must purchase and maintain all tools listed on the process personal tool list, and additional tools, if necessary
  • Maintain a clean and organized toolbox, workbench, and help to maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary maintenance shop
  • Perform other tasks, as needed, or when asked by supervision
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and compliance with, McKee product purity standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and compliance with, McKee safety rules and procedures
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to accept and adapt to change
  • Willing to teach and assist Team members and others, and to be taught and assisted by Team members

Required Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to and support of McKee Foods guiding values, policies, goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and consistently communicate in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, with all levels of McKee Foods employees, outside vendors and contractors
  • Knowledge and adherence to GMP's with a strong emphasis on Food Safety and Product Purity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
  • Previous mechanical experience and ability to demonstrate mechanical competence
  • Demonstrable and Functional knowledge of PC skills
  • Ability and willingness to work extended shifts, additional days and overtime as needed
  • Possess an excellent work and safety record; dependable
  • Comply with conditions established by Corporate Risk Management to operate Company vehicles
  • Ability and willingness to work on a team or independently as needed
  • Previous mechanical experience
  • Experience working with small power tools, hand tools, and measuring tools
  • Willingness to continual learning with Company provided training, outside seminars, technical courses, etc. (travel may be required)
  • High initiative and self-motivation, requiring minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Industrial Mechanical and/or Electrical Maintenance
  • Experience in Process Maintenance and/or as a Process Operator
  • Proficient in reading blueprints
  • Proficient at Analytical Trouble-Shooting
  • Experienced Welder
  • Proficient with the MAXIMO
  • Possess or ability to get and maintain McKee Foods LTO and Scissors lift licenses
  • Ability to create understandable sketches or drawings of mechanical components
  • Possess Technical School diploma or certification in an applicable course of study
