Overview

The Leave Specialist is responsible for processing the organization's leave of absence programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Counsels and corresponds with partners regarding leave of absence benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Must comply with internal and external leave policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assists in determining employee eligibility and employee return to work or separation requests.
  • Works with leave vendor and Payroll to ensure employees are placed on a leave of absence, returned from a leave of absence, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Processes partner change of status transactions.
  • Records the leaves and adjusts time or pay in the HRIS or payroll systems as needed.
  • Maintains leave of absence files for all partners.
  • Answers phones and greets customers entering the HR area.
  • Participates in department specific committee(s).
  • Participates in semi-annual and annual benefit fairs.
  • May be required to perform Benefit Specialist 1 duties on occasion.

Education and Experience

Graduate of high school.
Two years of clerical experience, preferably in Human Resources

Certification and Licensure

Special Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
