Job Description

As the pioneer and world leader of the oil-free centrifugal compressor product category with its award winning Variable Speed, Magnetic Bearing Compressors, Danfoss Turbocor is dedicated to the design, manufacture, marketing and support of the world's most efficient commercial refrigerant compressors. The result is the world's first totally oil-free compressor specifically designed for the HVAC industry.

The Software and Electronics team is enhancing the embedded microprocessor based electronic controls and customer experience for our next generation of products. The successful candidate will play an integral part in architecting and developing the real-time control system for this new exciting platform based on industry leading design concepts and technologies with our team in Tallahassee, FL. In addition, this role will support our existing products which are in production.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

* Understand electronics circuit schematics and PCB designs

* Contribute toward design and development of electronic circuit through

o Component selection

o Circuit simulation

o Schematic design

o PCB layout and design

o Preparing manufacturing documents

o Interacting with electronic board and subassembly vendors to ensure delivery guidelines are met

o Testing of Electronic subassemblies

o Making and testing wire harnesses

o Debugging Electronic circuits

* Work with a team of engineers and technicians to achieve technical objectives

* Testing electronics subassemblies by

o Setting up test fixtures as per the test requirements

o Running and monitoring tests

o Collecting and parsing test data

o Data analysis to detect and predict failure modes

* Work collaboratively within the team and with other teams at Danfoss Turbocor

* Participate in new technology research and development projects as requested

* May include responsibility to travel to visit suppliers, manufacturing facilities and customer sites when necessary.

Background & Skills

Required (basic) qualifications

Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

* Basic understanding of

o Electronic components like Op-amps, filters, capacitors, resistors, inductors and transformers

o Power converters topologies (Buck, Linear, Flyback, Etc)

o Temperature sensors, relays, stepper motors for industrial applications

o Electronics design process (example: simulation, circuit design, PCB layout etc)

o Analog to digital conversion, Digital to analog conversion, Control systems, Frequency domain analysis, Digital signal processing

* Ability to work with Microsoft Office tools, Matlab and electronic circuit simulation tools

* Ability to work with oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering iron and microscopes

Preferred qualifications

* Ability to interact with other team members across functional areas

* Informed on current trends in emerging electronic technologies

* Open to working in a multinational multifacility manufacturing environment

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to work with electronics including assembly; work outdoors and in lab environments; The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with a team member.
