Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 to 18.84 per hour.

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Residential Administrative Assistant at Karin House for seniors, located at Walter Reed in NW Washington, DC.

Position Description: The Residential Administrative Assistant provides administrative support, monitoring, and security for the housing facility and residents, during the day or overnight based on the schedule.

Qualifications:

Required: Required: 1-3 yrs. experience in social services; experience providing services to seniors

Preferred: HS Degree/GED; 3-5 yrs. experience in social services

Required License/Certification: CPR/First Aid; DC Food Handlers Certification

Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00 am-2:00 pm (20 hours per week)

  • Ability to set professional boundaries


Expected Contributions: Administrative



  • Provide front desk coverage and answer primary phone
  • Provide administrative support for program
  • Order office and stock supplies
  • Assist in program reporting
  • Submit repair work orders as needed
  • Maintain the program poster board
  • Maintain visitor log
  • Document any client issues and communicate with their assigned case manager or clinical director


Expected Contributions: Program Operations



  • Conduct house walk-throughs and wellness checks
  • Review surveillance footage regularly
  • Perform supporting cleaning duties on an as-needed basis
  • Respond to emergency situations and contact management as needed, develop serious incident reports when needed
  • Maintain Front Desk residents roster and On-Call binder
  • Perform On-call orientation as needed
  • Perform drug tests, as needed
