Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)


The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia is in search of Network Engineer (IT Specialist- Network).

This Information Technology Specialist position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The incumbent works closely with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer users and other District agencies in analyzing and defining network systems requirements, implementing solutions, plan and track projects and coordinate inter-agency efforts in the areas of networking, infrastructure, security and inter-operability.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Configures and optimizes network servers, hubs, routers, and switches.
  • Analyzes network workload. Diagnoses and resolves network problems; develops network back-up and recovery procedures.
  • Installs, test, maintains, and upgrades network operating systems software.
  • Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.
  • Manages the agency's telephony infrastructure including voice terminals, VOIP, voice switching, provisioning, analog lines, ACD and IVR systems.
  • Implements and enforces the agency's policies and procedures in the area of network and infrastructure management, auditing, inspection, security, disaster recovery, encryption and compliance.
  • Monitors network infrastructure and systems using tools such as LanDesk, Microsoft SUS server, McAfee ePO server, Cisco utilities and appliances including IDS/IPS devices, firewalls, BMC tools, Solarwinds, Servista, Retina and other tools as available.
  • Analyzing and refining system requirements and translating requirements into applications.



Minimum Qualifications:

Five (5) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as analyzing configuring, optimizing, monitoring and maintaining Server, SAN, Desktop and Cloud architecture and infrastructure; maintaining and managing the installation and testing process of new and existing IT products, and troubleshooting IT related issues. A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is desired. Certification(s) in the area of Networking or System Administration are highly desired (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, MCSE, MCSA).
