Position Summary The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented Technician to join our team. Our research focuses on understanding the biology of T cell function in the context of cancer and autoimmunity. Responsibilities Assist laboratory members in conducting experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI). Perform a variety of techniques, under close supervision, including: Flow cytometry Cell culture PCR Immunohistochemistry Mouse colony maintenance Process patient blood samples Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment Perform independent experiments Prepare samples and reagents Assist in assay development and optimization Maintain lab inventory and order supplies as needed Perform other related duties as needed Minimum Qualifications Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis on chemistry, biology, physics, or related science plus one year of related experience or equivalent in training and/or experience Ability to work in a neat and orderly manner following safety regulations and standard clinical protocols Effective communication and organization skills Other Requirements The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made Participation in the medical surveillance program Position will involve work with laboratory animals Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
