We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Dialysis Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in patient care and a passion for helping individuals with kidney disease. As a Clinical Dialysis Technician, you will play a vital role in providing dialysis treatments and ensuring the well-being of our patients.

Status: Full Time

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Detroit Northwest Lahser Dialysis is a 24-station unit operating three shifts, six days a week handling complex patients from ages 20-90 years old. Many require assistance with mobility devices.

Operating hours for patients are 5:00 am - 8:00 pm and team members are scheduled 4:30 am to 8:30 pm. Employee schedules are made through several shift designs.

Patients are medically managed by several Nephrologist and Advanced Practice practitioners (APP)

We have Registered Dietitians and Social Workers to address the concrete patient needs such as transportation or dietary needs.

Unit staffing includes a Nurse Manager as well as many Registered Nurses and Dialysis Clinical Technicians. We have additional support staff of Biomed Techs and Dialysis Assistants overseen by a technical leader.

GENERAL SUMMARY:



  • Perform dialysis treatments according to prescribed protocols and physician orders.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis treatment, assessing vital signs and responding to any changes in condition.
  • Set up and operate dialysis machines, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed by the physician.
  • Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including documenting treatment activities and patient progress.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards in the dialysis unit.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a dialysis technician training program preferred.
  • Certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) required within 18-months of employment.
