About the role:

This role drives business value through practical data management improvements and engagements across the organization. This role focuses on solving immediate data problems that impact business performance while establishing foundational data practices to drive retention and growth. This role supports Gartner's ability to make data-driven decisions while mitigating risk and meeting compliance standards by collaborating with stakeholders and developing, scaling and enforcing governance policies and best practices.

What you'll do:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data quality and data management, with a focus on seller experience and productivity. Leverage existing channels and develop new ones to engage and collect feedback.

  • Prioritization & Collaboration: Prioritize initiatives based on strategic goals and operational requirements. Drive collaboration, engagement, and alignment across departments by supporting business-led data forums and leading governance forums, including the Data Governance Council and Steering Committees.

  • Change Management & Communications: Present approaches and roadmaps in a straightforward manner that clearly connects to business impact. Develop a communications strategy to influence stakeholders and guide them through the journey of improving data quality and governance.

  • Data Literacy: Promote data literacy to ensure clarity and understanding of data, analytics, and model assets in a way that is simple and intuitive for end users, enabling them to seamlessly derive insights from data and analytics models.

  • Voice of Data: Develop and implement "Voice of Data" initiatives to continuously assess and enhance the perception of Gartner's data assets across the organization.

  • Data Practices & Guidelines: Develop and implement clear, actionable guidelines for data, analytics, and reporting usage that are easy to adopt and directly address real business needs.

  • Data Quality & Integrity: Define and track key, business-centric data quality metrics, conduct targeted audits to identify discrepancies, and work closely with teams to enhance overall data accuracy and reliability.

  • Analytics & Reporting Best Practices: Monitor analytics methodologies and reporting processes to ensure transparency and consistency while providing clear guidance to support consistent and appropriate data usage.

  • Metadata & Discoverability: Establish efficient documentation practices-such as maintaining concise glossaries and lineage details-and promote intuitive naming conventions to improve data discoverability.

  • Roadmap & Continuous Improvement: Create an incremental roadmap for evolving data practices, gathering feedback and measuring progress against clear objectives to continually refine and enhance our approach.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in data governance, analytics governance, model risk management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing governance programs across data, analytics, reporting, and model management, with expertise in risk management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with data governance, analytics, and model risk tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of data compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and analytics/reporting standards.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 220,000 USD - 256,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
