About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist who will support Global Finishing Solutions' purchasing activities throughout the entire order process and ensure the process is conducted timely and efficiently to meet business/project needs. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders and external suppliers in various aspects such as procurement, strategic sourcing, contract administration, and vendor/supplier management. This role focuses on large projects and will purchase critical, complex, and/or high dollar parts, equipment, services, and material. The ideal candidate will have proven analytical skills and excellent negotiation skills.

The right candidate will be self-driven and has experience working in a manufacturing (steel) environment and collaborate with dynamic teams/departments within the organization. What You Will Do

  • Lead the sourcing process and activities for projects
  • Target/qualify & select and monitor suppliers, leading negotiations with suppliers
  • Purchase production materials, tooling, and equipment
  • Perform target costing activities and total landed cost analysis
  • Responsible for overall supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery
  • Apply engineering, manufacturing, and quality expertise to reduce material costs and meet production requirements
  • Work closely with project management, engineering, and sales to investigate the required technologies and suppliers to support new projects
  • Utilize spend analysis to look for new sourcing opportunities and to leverage non-contract spending
  • Provide analytical data and information to support procurement initiatives and coordinates spend analysis across the strategic procurement group
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You Have to Offer

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or purchasing or related field and 5-7 years of related experience
  • Prior purchasing experience in project management or program management environments
  • Preferred experience in a steel manufacturing environment
  • Proven knowledge of contract strategy, negotiations, supplier performance assessments, and audits
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to negotiate contracts
  • Familiarity with production equipment and manufacturing environments
  • Microsoft Office Suite technical proficiency with advanced capabilities in Excel
