Qualifications

Experience working in food service; food preparation, kitchen equipment and proper sanitation practices. Ability to communicate well and work well independently and/or in a team setting. Possess a positive attitude, works well with others, be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters and be well organized and efficient. Ability to lift heavy items, frequently reaches, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.

Must be willing to support the Mission of The Salvation Army; be able to pass The Salvation Army pre-employment background checks. It must be understood by the incumbent that the position is subject to the requirements of Safe From Harm upon commencement of employment and that the required Safe From Harm training program must be satisfactorily completed, within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Position Summary

The Kitchen Aide may prepare and cook meals for clients and maintain a clean kitchen and dining room. In this position the candidate will also clean and sanitize all food service equipment, dishes, pots and pans. While performing the duties of this position, the candidate is required to stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and hear and talk. This is a regular full-time position with workweek expectation of 32 hours per week. Sundays shifts expected.

32 hrs/week, $10.55-$17.00/hour

Sunday (3pm-7pm), Monday - Thursday (7:30am-3pm)

Location: 304 Roberts St., Fargo, ND 58102

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates.

2. Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every donor, contact and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.

3. Prepares/assists with daily meals in accordance with the menu plan for the day.

4. Assists with serving meals and dining room operations.

5. Performs inventory control and maintains food pantry with direction from Kitchen Supervisor.

6. Performs daily cleaning duties as determined by supervisor.

7. Carries out routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.

8. Assists with and volunteers in the absence of the Kitchen Supervisor.

9. Understands and supports the Safe Serve guidelines of proper preparation and storage of food products and food handling equipment.

10. Assists with other programs at the discretion of the Corps Officer.

11. Performs dishwashing duties maintaining clean and sanitized food handling items and utensils.

12. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of dishwashing equipment.

13. Sweeps and mops kitchen, hallways, pantries and dining room floors.

14. Removes garbage from containers and transports to the dumpster.

15. Maintains scrap cardboard for recycling.

16. Assists with moving supplies.

17. May assist with serving meals periodically.

18. Other duties germane to the position as deemed by the Business Administrator
