The Associate Director provides specialist medical/scientific strategic and operational input into their core medical affairs activities such as: Provide scientific and technical support for assigned products and therapeutic areas; lead medical reviewer of promotional and non-promotional materials; actively participate in Brand Teams and help develop medical affairs strategies for assigned function and products; creation and dissemination of medical information materials, provides support to medical communication activities for VAFSEO (vadadustat) and pipeline; educational initiatives (medical education, data, guidelines and value proposition). Works closely with Marketing and Commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand strategies, and to support medical/marketing activities and Market Access.

Responsibilities:

Medical Reviewer Lead: (Top priority for the role)



  • Serve as the lead medical reviewer for Promotional Review Committee (PRC) and non-promotional review materials and participates in committee meetings
  • Primary liaison with Marketing and other commercial functions in support of material development, strategic & clinical guidance and advice


Medical Information Lead



  • Develop and communicate appropriate and timely responses to requests for medical information, including the development and maintenance of standard response documents and frequently asked questions
  • Provide regular reporting of trends, insights and metrics from medical information activities


Medical Affairs & Communications



  • Supports the development of high quality, scientific medical education materials such as disease state backgrounders, symposia, clinical data slide decks/libraries, and scientific communication platforms, as necessary
  • Accurately assess and manage budget and timelines for assigned projects/activities
  • Oversees the staffing of Medical Education and/or Medical Information booths at designated scientific meetings and manage related activities, including coordinating the training of booth staff
  • Contributes to development of department infrastructure and systems


Minimum Requirements:

Basic Skills:



  • PharmD or PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience within Medical Affairs
  • 3+ years as medical reviewer for material review committees (e.g. PRC)


Preferred Skills:



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills, must be detail-oriented
  • Experience in scientific/medical literature identification and evaluation
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to participate in several projects simultaneously


Compensation:

Targeted Base: 167,343 -206,717

*Base Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. Base pay is only one component of the company's total rewards package, all regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or the incentive compensation program (if applicable), as well as equity. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, etc.
