JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Schuylkill is seeking a Director of Cooperative Education and external relations to join our team. Reporting to the chancellor, the Director of Cooperative Education and External Relations is responsible for the leadership, administration, and management of the Penn State Schuylkill Cooperative Education Program. This position works closely with other departments in the Career Development Center, university-wide Career Services, employers, faculty, and staff to coordinate efforts and strengthen relationships. This position is also responsible for teaching career development courses and managing the unit budget, including staff, supplies, and programming.

The successful candidate will represent Penn State Schuylkill Co-op and the Career Development Center to multiple external constituents such as employers, chambers of commerce and professional employer associations, and elected officials and government agencies; serve as a central point of contact for employers, faculty, staff, and students regarding Penn State Schuylkill Co-op and internship and co-op opportunities. Additional duties include recruiting employers and assisting them with posting opportunities and recruiting students; ensuring healthy relationships with employers and productive student experiences during internship and co-op experiences and intervening as necessary; ensuring Penn State Schuylkill Co-op programs, services, resources, and events are in close alignment with the goals of Penn State Schuylkill-as well as national career development and cooperative education standards; work closely with Penn State Career Services personnel at University Park and regionally to coordinate efforts and strengthen relationships; teach sections of career development courses or career development content within designated courses; and manage unit budget, including staff, supplies, and programming.

The candidate will also provide reception to internal and external visitors in the Chancellor's office, on the phone, and through correspondence, including high-level internal and external stakeholders such as board members, business leaders, donors, members of the media, and government and elected officials.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A Master's degree is preferred in education, higher education, business, or a related field and experience with experiential, site-based, or clinical education such as internships, co-op, or student teaching.

  • The successful candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills-including the development and delivery of presentations, experience developing programs and materials, analytical skills and experience with developing and implementing assessments and metrics that are used to improve performance, fluency with office technology, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
