We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Field Representative on our Advocacy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a Sr. Field Representative, you will serve
as primary liaison between state, county, and national medical societies and
the AMA and promote AMA strategic objectives, policy, and advocacy priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Federation Administration

  • Provide AMA staff and leadership with insight into perspectives, ideas, and concerns of assigned societies. Provides factual data and background material concerning assigned societies to AMA staff and management to assist in the planning of AMA strategies and programs.
  • Contribute to management information through identification of key and emerging issues by providing intelligence memorandums regarding observations and proactive efforts/challenges/successes toward achieving affinity between assigned societies and the AMA.
  • Collaborate with appropriate AMA operating units to achieve thorough understanding of association-wide activities and initiatives.
  • Oversee administrative staff assisting during meetings, including the scheduling and assignment of responsibilities to onsite staff.
  • Undertake primary communications with all attendees, including registration, housing, completion of legal forms (Statement of Compliance, Financial Disclosures, Attestations, and Confidentiality), voting, final billing, expense reports, etc.
  • Participates in general administrative activities including answering correspondence/inquiries both in writing and over the telephone, attending official external AMA meetings and other internal meetings.
  • Participates in planning and implementing Federation Relations meetings, activities, and events.

Internal/External Collaborations

  • Serve as primary staff connection between AMA and assigned societies. Facilitate strategic interaction with the federation, build relationships, foster effective linkages and communications for consensus building and unit.
  • Provide first level conveyance of AMA initiatives, policies, challenges goals, and objectives to assigned societies.
  • Develop plans, with measurable goals and objectives, for liaison activities with assigned federation societies and physician audiences not necessarily connected to organized medicine.
  • Attend and actively participate in society meetings and events to ensure solid organizational relationships and outcomes.
  • Plan and coordinate interactive leadership meetings between the AMA Board of Trustees and Senior Management with assigned societies.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree required.
  2. Minimum 3+ years of experience in a professional association, political campaign, or healthcare. required;. .
  3. Demonstrated experience with project management and large meeting coordination required.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel required; able to learn new systems/databases with Access experience preferred.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with physicians, meeting attendees, and all levels of management.
  6. Strong writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  7. Considerable skills in identifying issues and presenting/implementing solutions.
  8. Comprehensive organizational and prioritization skills; able to establish and meet realistic deadlines. Ability to work well under pressure and make sound decisions when required.
  9. Organizational sensitivity and a sense of confidentiality and discretion are required.
  10. Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  11. Some travel required.

The salary range for this position is $92,820-$123,420. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
