Overview (Scope of Role)

The Run Plant Engineer will be a technical resource to assist operations teams in the daily plant operations. Key areas of emphasis are environmental health, and safety (EH&S) performance, product quality, plant cost optimization, and all aspects of plant technical performance such as yield, energy efficiency, and production rates.

The position is located in Midland, MI. Candidates will need to have flexibility for occasional off hours and high activity periods e.g. plant turnarounds.



Responsibilities

    Provide day to day operation support for the styrene polymers complex.
  • Optimize and make improvements to facility operations to improve cost, safety, quality, and capability.
  • Execute small expense and capital projects. Fulfill the role of management representative on larger capital projects.
  • Lead EH&S activities in the plant as assigned. Participate in plant EH&S activities and initiatives.
  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
  • Understand all applicable process technology, equipment, and process control technology.
  • Understand and follow all applicable safety standards and management systems.
  • Be able to support and to modify process control code.
  • Track plant production metrics and collect data to support plant compliance.


Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 - 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a Chemical Manufacturing environment
  • High level of initiative and ownership
  • Schedule Flexibility (Some off hours support, some high activity periods e.g. plant turnarounds)
  • Ability to interact well with other plant staff and operators to build a positive rapport
  • Superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent professionalism, leadership, and communication skills
