Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is currently seeking a Children's Services Director. Under the administrative supervision of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and guided by our Professional Practice Model for Nursing, the Director of Children's Services ensures the delivery of quality patient care following Cottage Health System's department specific policies and procedures. Coordinates, directs, evaluates the work of children's health and pediatric care in inpatient areas and as a liaison to leaders in locations providing pediatric services.

The Director of Children's Services role assists in managing and leading quality improvement and safety projects while serving in a leadership role to managers of respective areas and staff. Is responsible for developing strategic goals for the departments, as well as fiscal year business plans required to achieve such goals. The Director translates strategies into day-to day operations.

Cottage Children's Medical Center is recognized today as a regional referral center for the medical needs of infants, toddlers, and children throughout the tri-county area.



  • The Acute Pediatric Care Unit at Cottage Children's Medical Center consists of 38 all-private rooms. All rooms are equipped with sleeping areas for parents and child-size bathtub for patients.
  • The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Cottage Children's Medical Center features eight all-private rooms. We are the only PICU on the Central Coast.
  • The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is designed into three "pods" which can accommodate 6 infants in each pod. There are 22 patient beds in the NICU.


QUALIFICATIONS

Level of Education



  • Minimum: BSN Degree and one of the following Master's Degrees: MSN, MBA, MHA.
  • Preferred: Above and PhD or Doctor of Nursing practice (DNP) degree.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations



  • Minimum: Current California RN license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Preferred: Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting organization, i.e., the National Certification Corporation (NCC), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Organization of Nursing Leadership (AONL).


Technical Requirements



  • Minimum: Database management skills. Proficient use of Microsoft applications, especially Excel. Understanding of integrated clinical systems.
  • Preferred: Experience in extrapolating data from EPIC and EPIC analytics reporting systems. Familiar with department of children's services (DCCS) regulations and requirements.


Years of Related Work Experience



  • Minimum: Five (5) years of progressively responsible healthcare management/administrative/leadership experience. Two (2) years of experience in clinical field of oversight and expertise.
