The Safety Shift Supervisor provides for the general safety and security of the campus community by delivering department services, conducting 24 hour preventive patrols by vehicle, foot, golf car and bicycle, providing lock and unlock services, investigating and documenting incidents, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to emergency conditions, and supervising the appropriate shift. The supervisor is an integral part of the department's management team. Provide initial response to dangerous incidents involving weapon. Perform routine and special safety and security duties associated with shift, and deliver safety service as required. Provide direction and supervision of Shift Safety Officers (full-time, part-time, and student assistants) during assigned shift, and provide for the safety and security of campus personnel and property. Provide special supervision during incidents involving security or safety matters. Notify Associate Director of Campus Safety & Security and other administrators as required. Review and approve all shift paperwork, and prepare daily shift summary. Perform shift scheduling duties, conduct shift briefings and maintain strong working knowledge of department policies and procedures. Assist with training and professional development of Shift Safety and Security Officers. Maintain performance evaluations of assigned staff. All other duties as assigned. QualificationsIn addition to AZ DPS licensing requirements (Must have or qualify for an AZ DPS Security Guard License and successfully complete department training to include OC/handcuff restraint, field training and other programs as required. Must be physically fit as emergency situations may call for rigorous physical activity), AZ DPS license position requires ability to complete 16 hours of armed officer training requirement to include successful range proficiency. |
