Global Quality Director

The Global Quality Director will be the subject matter expert and regularly advise the Executive Leadership Team on Quality Requirements and Status' across the organization, globally. The Global Director of Quality will have a high level of engagement and continuous improvement initiatives within all regions, globally, to include the United States, Germany, South Korea, China and Japan. The Global Director of Quality will drive impactful change to the quality culture across the organization, exuding a winning attitude, while leveraging best practices internally and externally.

The Global Quality Director will lead and emphasize strategic opportunities to increase quality performance and improve customer satisfaction , through the optimization of our quality systems, processes and procedures. This role will not only support and foster a culture of continuous improvement within Quality, but also drive positive engagement within their team by leading, mentoring and coaching subordinate quality leaders across all regions globally.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to expand the development of a global strategy for the Quartz, Ceramics and Crucibles business to significantly improve product quality, customer complaint resolution, reduction in quality defects, and improvement in profitability.
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices across all sites and product lines globally and ensure the customer's quality requirements are met.
  • Ensure critical materials meet the quality requirements of our processes and market expectations.
  • Influence, coach, and mentor Quality Leaders across all sites globally, driving execution of quality improvement plans.
  • Review product quality trends, identify additional areas of focus and coordinate resources to drive down cost of poor quality.
  • Stay current of external best practices for improving Quality performance.
  • Participate in and influence the Strategic Talent Management activities for the quality function, including development, training, and succession planning.
  • Drive implementation of corrective actions for customer complaints and internal defects including verification of effectiveness.
  • Conduct Customer Specification and Quality Agreement Reviews working with other functions, as needed.
  • Lead Quality Management Systems (QMS) activities for Momentive Technologies, including audit planning, internal and external audit support and interaction with Regional Quality Management System Leaders.
  • Support new supplier development and onboarding activities.
  • Directly engage with suppliers to improve quality and performance, and oversee supplier quality audits.
  • Lead the global quality council to drive continuous improvement in our quality standards and report on quality metrics

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years' of experience in Quality Assurance or similar Quality role.
  • 5+ years Leadership Experience directing a Professional Team, preferably on a global level.
  • Strong proficiency in ISO 9001 and AS 9100 quality standards
  • Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage many projects or programs simultaneously.
  • Possess a communication style that builds strong relationships at all levels of the organization and impacts outcomes and decisions.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical expertise coupled with effective presentation, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess transformational leadership qualities - ability to engage, inspire, challenge and influence others and without formal authority.
  • Experience in working with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong knowledge of problem solving and analytical tools such as 8-D, RCCA, SPC or similar
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably chemical industry or glass industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience leading a global quality organization
  • Expert knowledge of SAP QM functional module
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
  • ISO9001 and AS9001 internal auditor or lead auditor certifications

Travel Requirements:

  • 10-15%
