Community Innov & Action Ctr

Job Description

The Community Innovation and Action Center (CIAC) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL), engages with community partners to co-create knowledge, connections, and tools that move us towards just, equitable, and democratic systems. CIAC is dedicated to strengthening coordination and collaboration across all sectors, towards the goal of improving outcomes for communities.

The Project and Data Assistant will work closely with the CIAC team to support project success for services and general project needs. The position will consist of two areas of focus - one is supporting CIAC leadership in administrative management including contract tracking, invoicing, staff reimbursement and credit card reconciliation. The other role is focused on data and will be primarily responsible for collecting, cleaning, and visualizing state and local data, as well as assisting with project management, such as meeting scheduling, note taking and documentation. The applicant should have an eye for detail and care for strong relationships within the team and across partners. The ideal applicant will have a familiarity with social service policies and data, and Excel and Power-BI expertise.

Project and Data Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work with CIAC leadership to request and track requests within the UM Shared Services system, including contracts, invoices, reimbursement and credit card reconciliations
  • Support development of systems and reference documents that guide CIAC staff in administrative processes
  • Proactively identify requests that need follow-up or additional information, following up directly with system representatives or flagging needed follow-up for relevant CIAC staff
  • Draft template emails and communications that support clear and timely requests for administrative needs
  • Collect, clean, code, and visualize data from federal, state and local sources, and communicate data findings to diverse audiences
  • Build and maintain relationships through outreach, communications and interviews with a range of stakeholders, including state administrators, policymakers, and child and youth advocates
  • Maintain project management documentation and communication through Monday.com and/or related project management systems
  • Draft and edit reports, dashboards, PowerPoints, and other deliverables
  • Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of both administrative services and the fiscal mapping data collection tools, including user experience
  • Execute on short-term, fast-turnaround requests
  • Manage multiple projects and relationships

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Skills & Experience:

  • Work experience in program administration, state or local government, non-profits
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, education, finance, social work or related field preferred
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and familiarity with Google Suite, Outlook, and PowerBi
  • Efficient and high-quality research and writing skills
  • Commitment to high quality and accurate data collection
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to present ideas clearly in large and small groups
  • Robust organizational, time management and data analysis skills
  • Attention to detail and anticipates project needs
  • Passion for CIAC's mission and work
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Curiosity, integrity, and flexibility
  • Ability to think conceptually and practically.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $51,875 - $52,500 Annual
Grade: GGS-10
