Description

Our Corporate Information Services team is searching for an Ab Initio Developer based in Schaumburg, IL. This position will design, develop, and implement robust data integration and ETL processes using Ab Initio and advanced data engineering techniques. This role requires deep expertise in data pipeline development, data transformation, and performance optimization, as well as a strong understanding of modern data engineering principles. The ideal candidate will ensure data integrity and accessibility to support business analytics, decision-making, and strategic planning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines using Ab Initio to enable seamless data integration and movement across systems
  • Data Transformation & Modeling: Build scalable data transformation workflows that support analytical models, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives
  • Performance Optimization: Improve data flow and processing speed by optimizing existing processes and leveraging Ab Initio's capabilities to enhance efficiency
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and execute testing protocols to ensure data quality and integrity across pipelines (e.g. unit, integration, and regression testing)
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for workflows, data mappings, and processes
  • Collaboration: Partner with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensuring efficient data delivery and management
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Follow data governance policies and standards to ensure data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain awareness of industry advancements, emerging tools, and relevant techniques that can be incorporated into development process

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in UNIX scripting, SQL/PL-SQL, data parallelism techniques, and the Ab Initio components GDE, Conduct>It, Express>It, EME
  • Familiarity with advanced Ab Initio features including Rollup, Scan, Join, Partition by Key/Round Robin, Gather, Merge, Interleave, Lookup, Control Center, and Query>It
  • Strong experience developing mapping specifications, high-level design (HLD), low-level design (LLD), coding, and unit testing
  • Experience with structured SDLC processes and source-code control using EME
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data lakes, data warehousing, and data pipeline architectures, and relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Experience with data profiling, cleansing, and quality assurance tools and methodologies
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting ability related to root cause identification, workflow optimization, and decision making within matrixed environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic environment
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of professional experience within Ab Initio development and production support roles
