The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) has achieved national and international prominence through its tradition of unparalleled excellence and leadership in research, education, and service. Job Summary

Plan, develop and implement communications and promotional strategies and programs that optimize the visibility of a college, school or department. Additionally, coordinate information technology support efforts for the unit to include administrative leadership in planning, organization and budgeting. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with faculty, staff, students, alumni, outside vendors, internal and external media contacts, alumni. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit leadership, faculty, staff and students. This position will supervise communications/technical staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1
Develop ideas and concepts for publication

Job Duty 2
Write articles and newsletters, produce graphics and fact sheets; format and edit research proposals; manage web pages

Job Duty 3
Plan and oversee the unit's information technology support needs; establish priorities and formulate/manage unit IT budget

Job Duty 4
Direct promotional events and special projects

Job Duty 5
Attend workshops, events, lectures, etc. relating to the communications field

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience/familiarity with communications in STEM fields. In particular, different topics, e.g. research, student activities and successes, events, external relations, alumni, etc.
  • Proficiency in multiple modes/models of communication including print, digital, and social media
  • Experience in managing a team of communication staff
  • Interpersonal, collaboration, and analytical skills
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires professional level writing and editing skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, time management ability and presentation/program development/event management skills. Skills in technology related administration including planning and budgeting are also required. Use of office and specialized computer applications is required.

Salary range: $69,959.00-$95,145.00
