Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office.

N3B is a limited liability company owned by HII Nuclear Inc. and BWX Technologies, joined by our critical subcontractors Longenecker and Associates and Tech2 Solutions.

N3B brings operational discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract.

Position Location:

This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Assists in talent acquisition and recruitment process.
  • Prepares and conducts new hire orientations
  • Partners with other HR functional areas to provide support as needed in the areas of, Benefits, Employee Relations, and Compensation.
  • Monitors the performance evaluation program and provides input for reporting purposes.
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures; may assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; and promotes HR programs to create a conflict free workplace.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Assists in recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Assists in researching data, document creation, and submission of HR department assigned J-2 Deliverables

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Demonstrated experience performing HR Generalist job duties in the areas of recruitment, new hire orientation, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise managers and employees in general HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. ADP, CostPoint) will be a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working effectively as a team member and individually.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors' degree in a related discipline. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

Education Equivalency: 2 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential, preferred.

Business Associations:

Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other personnel in the section or group.

Impact:

Contributions are usually limited to task-related activities. Errors do not typically have a major effect on the organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office work environment.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Human Resources Generalist will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. Ability to obtain an L level Department of Energy security clearance.
