Summary Oversees the daily operations of the leave administration and management process for the organization. Ensures leave management processes are administered consistently with corporate policies and compliantly with local, state and federal regulations, including FMLA, ADA, LOA, STD, LTD, ADA, Personal Leaves, Emergency Leaves, Sick Leave, Bereavement Leave, Military Leave, Jury Duty Leave and various other leaves. This is a full-time position working (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday on-site at 51 Clemson Rd. Columbia, SC

Position Purpose:

The Leave Administration Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization's leave management process. This includes ensuring the accurate and consistent administration of various leave programs, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, LOA, STD, LTD, personal, emergency, sick, bereavement, military, and jury duty leave. The role ensures all leave policies are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, and align with corporate guidelines.

What You'll Do:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations for Leave of Absence in accordance with corporate policies and practices and legal requirements. Serves as the main point of contact and subject matter expert for management inquiries to facilitate the processing and tracking of requests for the various leave programs according to federal and state-specific guidelines and company policies and procedures. Facilitates reporting and provides accurate and timely status updates to keep management informed of approved leaves.

  • Researches and analyzes regulatory changes to establish a plan to ensure compliance with state and federal leave requirements. Evaluates and proposes updates to policies and programs related to leave administration. Liaise with HR management and the HRIS team to implement changes and automate processes.

  • Educates employees and managers regarding the various leave programs, procedures, and roles/responsibilities. Selects, trains, develops, and guides staff to ensure that excellent customer service is provided. Manages staff to include time, leave, performance reviews, disciplinary, etc.

  • Actively collaborates with other HR functional areas and LOB management regarding absences, absence management, leave status, return to work plans, and vetting for ADA compliance and process improvement and reporting.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need:

  • Required Education: Bachelor's

  • Degree Equivalency: 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

  • Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of Nursing experience or Human Resources leave management/administration, HR generalist or Business Partner, or professional-level HR work experience including leave management and/or leave administration. 2 of the 5 years must be in a supervisory capacity or equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.

  • Required Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of government laws and regulations related to leave benefits. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Demonstrated negotiation skills to persuade and influence decision-makers. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects and adapt quickly to changing needs. Ability to manage and organize work to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and act with a sense of urgency. Ability to work without close supervision and both independently and in a team-oriented environment. Ability to provide exceptional customer service. Demonstrated willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information.

  • Required Software and Other Tools: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.

What we Prefer you to have:

  • Preferred Work Experience: 4 years full cycle leave management experience.

  • Preferred License's and Certificates: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CBP, CEBS, or other relevant certification.
