Overview:

We are seeking an Electrical Utilities Line Crew Supervisor who will coordinate, plan, and schedule the work associated with the operations and maintenance of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Medium Voltage Power Distribution System. This position resides in the Utilities Division under the Facilities and Operations Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Established a business culture to meet the demands of utilities' customers serving as customer interface regarding utilities activities.
  • Ensures work tasks are properly analyzed and graded according to ORNL work control procedures.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to safety in job evaluations and safety discussions.
  • Develops weekly work schedules and plans workload requirements in accordance with designated priorities and objectives.
  • Perform predictive maintenance activities on the electrical distribution system in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical fault situations affecting the overall system status.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A successful candidate must have a high school degree (or GED equivalent) and have a minimum of nine years' experience in construction and maintenance of an electric power distribution system.
  • Knowledge of functions, use and care of tools and materials used in electrical line work and substation maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of any and all applicable OSHA regulations regarding electrical distribution work.
  • Ability to navigate standard computer software such as MS-Excel, MS-Word and other company based electronic systems
  • A valid Tennessee driver's license is a requirement for this position.
  • A CDL (class A) is a requirement for this position.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience as well as familiarity with labor relations principles and the ATLC contract is highly desirable.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.

Special Requirements:

  • Physical Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
  • Export control, no clearance: This position requires access to technology that is subject to export control requirements. Successful candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
