Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an Internal Audit Intern for Summer 2025. The Internal Audit Intern will assist the Internal Audit team in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the company's risk management, control, and governance processes. This role provides hands-on experience in auditing techniques, compliance procedures, and exposure to various business functions within the organization.


Essential Functions

  • Assist in planning and executing internal audit activities, including reviewing processes, systems, and controls.
  • Perform risk assessments and help identify areas of improvement.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data.
  • Prepare audit documentation, including detailed work papers and audit findings.
  • Support the development of recommendations to improve processes and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in following up on the implementation of corrective actions for identified issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare internal audit reports for management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive information.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Working Conditions

The majority of work is completed in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.



Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.


Preferred Experience and Education

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
