We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. This position is open to candidates at both the Buyer I and Buyer II levels, depending on experience and qualifications. As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and investigating potential new suppliers as well as current suppliers for new and existing programs. You will be an active participant in supplier management and work closely with various departments to ensure all requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:





  • Preparation and Issuance of Purchase Orders:



    • Initiate and manage purchase orders for products and services for assigned plants.
    • Ensure purchase orders are placed in compliance with contracted suppliers.
    • Address quality, damage, availability, and delivery issues.
    • Perform weekly follow-up on late and unconfirmed purchase orders.
    • Quote low dollar value non-contracted items.



  • Supplier Management:



    • Develop, maintain, and investigate potential new suppliers as well as current suppliers.
    • Assist in the development of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Contribute to the review and negotiation strategy and documents used in supplier meetings.
    • Coordinate the on-boarding of suppliers and materials.
    • Manage day-to-day supplier relationships and contacts.



  • Interdepartmental Relationships:



    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships across assigned manufacturing sites.
    • Ensure contracts and procurement policy compliance.
    • Identify, measure, evaluate, and develop suppliers for indirect categories and services.
    • Measure and report on contract compliance.



  • Projects:



    • Coordinate with internal customers and category managers to assist in sourcing initiatives.
    • Develop department SOPs.
    • Interact with suppliers and internal customers to resolve invoice discrepancies.
    • Represent sourcing at various internal meetings, providing updates and action items.
    • Develop and implement solutions to automate PO processing.
    • Implement supplier pricing catalogs.




Additional Responsibilities for Buyer II:




  • Manage larger categories with higher dollar spend.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that include all company locations.
  • Gain "buy-in" from locations, create change management plans for rollout, and develop basic category strategies.
  • May train and mentor new buyers.



Qualifications:





  • Buyer I:



    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Experience in Strategic Sourcing or Supply Chain is preferred.
    • Ability to manage tactical procurement from multiple locations, work under pressure, and prioritize tasks.
    • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office and Teams; knowledge of Infor's EAM and JDE is a plus.



  • Buyer II:



    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of MRO buying experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain is required.
    • Ability to manage tactical procurement for multiple locations, work under pressure, and prioritize tasks.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, highly organized, and self-motivated.
    • Ability to build and foster healthy internal and external relationships with a strong service-minded attitude.
