POSITION TITLE

Data Governance Lead

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's data governance framework, with a particular emphasis on master data. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data across the enterprise, supporting business operations and decision-making processes. The position will collaborate with various stakeholders to establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures, and will lead initiatives to improve data quality and compliance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Implement Data Governance Framework: Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework that includes policies, standards, and procedures for managing master data.
  • Data Quality Management: Establish and enforce data quality standards and metrics. Monitor and report on data quality issues and work with data stewards to resolve them.
  • SDLC and Data Architecture standards: Ensure Data Governance and corporate data policies are incorporated into these standards and adhered to by new development and maintenance projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and adherence to data governance policies and practices.
  • Data Stewardship: Lead and coordinate the activities of data stewards across the organization to ensure consistent and accurate master data management.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and internal policies. Identify and mitigate risks related to data governance.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance principles and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data governance processes and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • This position requires candidates to be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for a work visa (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data management, and data governance.
  • Referenceable experience defining and implementing Data Governance for a global organization, preferably manufacturing.
  • Proven experience working with C-Suite and business leads to educate them on the benefits and commitments required for successful implementation of Data Governance, including assumption of accountability and responsibility for the data they own.
  • Experience defining and building strong relationships between business and IT needed to effectively implement business requirements-based Data Quality, MDM, Metadata, Data Lineage and other functions necessary to ensure data enhancements endure and are continuously improved upon.
  • Experience working with Compliance, Legal, Privacy and other business functions to develop data related corporate policies, standards, and auditable controls to ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED

  • Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, DMBok, CMMI, DCAM)
  • Experience with MDM tools and platforms (e.g., Informatica, SAP MDG, Alation, Collibra, Atlan).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data protection and privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
