SUMMARY:

A full-time research assistant is sought for an NIH funded project focused on the brain and psychological correlates of digital media behavior. Our lab places great emphasis on postbac training, and we have an excellent track record of placing trainees into strong graduate programs. The person accepting this will be responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and testing study participants, as well data management. In addition, this individual will mentor interns, manage grant budgets and progress reports, manage IRBs, analyze data, and assist with preparing posters and manuscripts. Hours need to be flexible because some testing of subjects may take place after 5 pm and on weekends. The hired individual will learn how to run a Siemens 3T MRI and analyze MRI data. BA/BS in psychology/cog science/neuroscience is required by the time of appointment.

Philadelphia is a large city on East Coast of the United States. It is known for its walkability, history, and funky neighborhoods (https://philly.curbed.com/2016/6/28/12050656/coolest-neighborhoods-in-philadelphia). It is two hours south of New York City, two hours north of Washington D.C.; both can be easily accessed by train. There is a confluence of neuroscience research in this region, with other institutions such as Drexel, Jefferson, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, and Rutgers, located nearby.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS in psychology or related field and at least six months of experience working in a research setting in an area of psychology or an area relevant to our project. The experience does not need to be consecutive and can be cumulative. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Research interest in development and/or memory and/or neuroimaging.
  • Research interest in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, or related field.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical tests.


PREFERRED:



  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population of participants
  • Computer skills and proficiency in addition to Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Experience working with MRI.
