National Grid Ventures is hiring a Commercial Lead Analyst, Business Development. This is a hybrid role and the location of the position is in Brooklyn, NY.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the commercial and financial analytical priorities of the Chief Commercial Officer organization with the underlying goal of evaluating, structuring and delivering energy infrastructure projects with strong risk adjusted return growth for the NGV NE group. The candidate will bring a diligent, proactive, collaborative, and commercially agile mindset to the team. This role requires strong data analytical and data visualization skills, and a results-oriented approach. This role requires the proven ability to build financial models and perform financial valuations of various commercial structures (e.g. competitive bids, options, M&A etc.) to support the development of energy projects and related partnerships to help drive decision making to enable disciplined investment decisions and in order to submit competitive bids across a range of energy technologies.

More specifically, the Commercial Business Development Lead Analyst will assist the Chief Commercial Officer and the Commercial team in conducting analyses for strategic decision making around the future of Long Island generation assets, future transmission infrastructure build, and other clean energy opportunities in the Northeast region including, but not limited to LNG, solar, battery energy storage, hydrogen etc. and their interplay with existing assets. The role requires the ability to work under formal and tight bid deadlines, strong project management skills, and strong coordination across the NGV NE team and other National Grid corporate functional groups such as Strategy, Finance, Operations, Legal, etc.

Key Accountabilities

The Commercial Business Development team requires entrepreneurial and agile thinkers, self-starters, and collaborative team players. Main accountabilities for the Lead Analyst include:

* Lead and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses as part of energy project origination and development, building and managing financial models and associated growth and risk scenarios.
* Assist with the management and administration of diverse and simultaneous work streams in support of commercial opportunities.
* Support developing business cases for potential future investments and commercial decision making.
* Supporting the commercial negotiation of contracts through analytical preparation and due diligence.
* Assist building papers and presentations that effectively convey projects' strategic and financial opportunities and risks.
* Supporting the development, submission, and subsequent management of bids into federal and state RFPs.
* Administer Project Management tools through the life cycle of various workstreams.
* Working with a diverse group of individuals and functions across NGV/NG

Qualifications

* Minimum: Bachelor's degree in finance/business/economics with at least 5-10 years of relevant experience (e.g. investment banking, finance related roles, engineering program development and financial modeling, etc.)
* Demonstrate knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations, and market fundamentals
* Demonstrate understanding of financial & commercial analyses and of competitive drivers that can help commercialize projects in very competitive environment.
* Understanding and ability to perform a range of valuations and experience with project finance structures (financial and accounting models and measures)
* Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, results oriented.
* Self-starter and ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks and demonstrate strong prioritization and organizational skills
* Strong written, visual, and oral communication skills to effectively communicate complex development topics and associated financials for senior management.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with people of different backgrounds and culture.

Salary

$136,000 - $160,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
