Laboratory Supervisor Requisition Number: 2025-1360-02 S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Construction Services team in New Albany, Indiana as a Laboratory Supervisor and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients. What You Will Do: As the Laboratory Supervisor, you will manage lab personnel, oversee daily activities and projects, and ensure quality and safety in lab operations within a specific area. Your role includes scheduling assignments, maintaining equipment, coordinating training and certifications, and supporting business development. This position balances team leadership with a higher personal utilization goal, focusing on client relations, quality assurance, and operational efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to the construction services and geotechnical team through field and project management roles. Team Supervision: Oversee lab staff in testing, equipment maintenance, calibrations, and daily operations. Project Management: Handle Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects, including proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, and report delivery. Scheduling & Coordination: Manage staff schedules and collaborate with Field Supervisors and Project Managers on project progress. Training & Certification: Train employees on lab processes and ensure they maintain necessary certifications. Who You Are: You have a minimum of 2 years combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing and a supervisory, management, or leadership role You are proficient with computer technology and mechanical testing equipment You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical field, a plus but not required Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites We Are S&ME: At S&ME, we've spent over 50 years providing innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials disciplines.
