What you'll be doing...

As Principal Engineer-Full Stack of Verizon Business Group Assisted Sales and Ordering, you will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Defining functional strategy, design, architecture, and delivery of critical building blocks that will transform and modernize professional services applications and Event Ledger.

  • Enabling consensus on technical design and architecture across cross-functional delivery teams and overseeing the IT development across all impacted BSS Systems.

  • Analyzing architecture, relationship between systems, and system flow of end-to-end system designs. Assess system usage trends and identify potential performance constraints with inter-system designs.

  • Managing software delivery with both onshore and offshore resource teams and with IT vendors. Improve global team productivity and throughput with DevOps methodologies and agile sprints.

  • Exploring cutting-edge technology and platforms in the market & developing proof of concept to solve business problems.

  • Coordinating application architecture and technology initiatives to ensure the adoption of proper technology for application development.

  • Lead and design security solutions for multiple systems with resources located globally, system architecture solutions, hardware and software configurations, Public Sector engagements, and Production Support. Designing and implementing in an agile software development environment with a strong focus on security solutions and remediation for systems and infrastructure.

  • Managing project plan, making appropriate adjustments to manage projects as they evolve involving other teams, PMs, and Other Unit / Department IT Teams, such as QA, Infrastructure, HW, Production Support Analysts, etc.

  • Leading teams and independently managing application initiatives.

  • Managing projects, coordinating development activities, ensuring timely delivery of modules to businesses with good quality, and reporting project status to upper management.

  • Motivating and training staff to maximize productivity and promote their professional development consistent with Verizon company policies and practices.

  • Coordinating application architecture and technology initiatives to ensure the adoption of proper technology for application development.

  • Managing multiple, medium to large projects and coordinating development activities between multiple IT teams.

  • Providing guidance and leadership to other team members.

  • Provide Recommendations to Executive management based on rapid changes in security technologies

  • Communicating regularly with Business sponsors and members of other IT groups (PM, Production Control, Infrastructure, Network Services, Marketing, etc.) on project status, planned work, and user involvement required.

  • Helping plan resources, and budget, identify quick wins, and identify process improvements that can be automated.

  • Managing multiple, medium to large projects and coordinating development activities between multiple IT teams.

  • Preparing weekly reports for upper management regarding project/business status ensures that projects are kept current for reporting purposes.

What we're looking for... You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience designing and developing complex-domain applications and highly scalable ingestion and data processing applications.

  • Experience with microservices architecture and its implementation.

  • Proficient in at least one of the programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, and Python.

  • Expertise in front-end development frameworks and tools, such as React, and Angular.

  • Experience with back-end development architectures and frameworks, such as Spring Boot, or Node.js, and technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ .

  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, such as Oracle DB, MySQL, and Cassandra.

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as AWS, OCI, Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience in cloud and container platform strategies, design, architecture, and migration.

  • Experience with ServiceNow.

  • Experience in developing applications and API frameworks to enable large-scale efficiencies.

  • Possess leadership experience in a large, global, complex technology-based organization.

  • Experience in innovative application of data- and metric-driven performance management to lower cost and drive efficiency.

  • Ability to lead complex projects by bringing together the right perspectives, identifying roadblocks, and integrating feedback from clients and team members.

  • Ability to perform analytics on previous incidents and usage patterns to better predict issues and take proactive actions.
