Job Summary
Responsible for the overall cost accounting, audit, compliance, and standard gross margin and variance analysis.
|
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply cost accounting principles, recommend improvements, implement and maintain approved recommendations to the BPCS (Arrowhead ERP) cost system.
- Determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods.
- Oversees monthly cycle counts process, regular inventory audits and inventory management to reduce costs and improve availability.
- Collects and analyzes data on material and labor costs and their variances to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of various business activities.
- Proficient in government contract cost accounting principles, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and relevant regulations (FAR, DFARS). This includes calculating and analyzing government rates and factors, and preparing cost proposals compliant with government regulations. Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
- Develops and maintains cost procedure manual.
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports for current and forecasted environment.
- Lead month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability
- Calculates burden rates and sets up expense budgets for manufacturing and service departments
- Understand Conversion Costs, Cost Per Earned Standard Hour and reconcile to G/L on a monthly basis.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years experience in aerospace cost accounting or 7-10 years experience in high volume manufacturing cost accounting.
- Experience with both standard and actual costing methodologies is required. The role will require maintaining a fully compliant CAS costing system.
- Extensive experience with various contract types including Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and Cost-Plus contracts.
- Experience with government audits

Supervisory Responsibilities
Minimum 1-3 years Supervisory Experience. Oversee and manage Finance Planning & Analysis team currently made up of 3 analysts. Must collaborate well with Accounting team as well as all other entities across the organization.
