Bring your passion and insight to a company that is committed to driving long- term sustainable growth this summer for our 10-week summer internship at our Distribution Center in Portland, Oregon! Interns can expect to gain valuable hands-on experience within their department while building partnerships with teams and fellow interns along the way!

  • Location: Portland, OR (Distribution Center)

  • Duration: ~10 weeks

  • Start Date Options: May 19th- July 25th or June 23rd - August 29th

  • Application Deadline: January 26th, 2025

  • Pay: $22.50/hr

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Industrial Engineering Intern is a member of the Global Distribution Engineering team and will support the design and execution of engineering solutions to address the organization's prioritized opportunities. This role will focus on leading a project which supports current Engineering objectives (e.g., labor optimization, storage capacity constraints, productivity/accountability, or current investment projects). The candidate will utilize LEAN, Six Sigma, and general engineering principles to solve complex business problems, recommend solutions, and ensure timely execution of improvements.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Lead an Engineering project involving research, costing, justification, and recommendation of solution(s) which support existing strategic initiatives. Bullet Point

  • Work cross functionally with Industrial Engineers, Continuous Improvement Analysts, Data Analysts, and Operations team to improve distribution center processes.

  • Utilize analytical toolsets (e.g., data analysis, ergonomic evaluation, value stream mapping, etc.) to recommend process improvements.

YOU ARE

  • An excellent verbal and written communicator with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Extremely organized, self-driven, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible.

  • Able to work independently within a fast-paced environment.

YOU HAVE

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.7 from an accredited college or university.

  • Basic knowledge of Engineering toolsets and principles (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma, time studies, job analysis, and modeling) through course work and previous intern or Capstone experience.

  • Capability to gather and interpret data; experience with Pareto Charts, matrices, tables, etc. Strong Microsoft Suite skills, including Visio, required.

  • Track record of successfully achieving priorities and accomplishing objectives.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current student with one of the following academic standings: Rising Senior, Senior, Graduate/ MBA student

  • Degree relevant to the internship you are applying for

  • Must be able to participate in 10-week program for either date option provided above

  • Must be able to work onsite at our Distribution Center location for the duration of the internship- interns will partner directly with their managers regarding expectations to work collaboratively in office specified days of the week

  • Relocation assistance & housing is NOT provided- these costs and arrangements would be the responsibility of the intern for the entirety of the program
