AESC is looking to add an Industrial Engineer to our team operating in the Smyrna, Tennessee facility.

About the Role

As AESC ramps up new battery manufacturing facilities across the Southeastern United States to meet rising demand from automotive OEM partners, we are expanding our local engineering teams to support smooth plant launches.

The Plant Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing processes within our plant operations. The Plant Industrial Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, develop process improvements, and support the continuous improvement culture within the organization.

This position requires a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles, lean manufacturing techniques, and data-driven decision-making.

In this role, you will work closely with a dynamic team of engineers, production managers, and quality assurance specialists to ensure our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your work will directly contribute to the development and production of high-performance battery systems that power the future of electric vehicles and energy storage solutions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Your performance will be measured against several critical indicators. Your ability to successfully lead and execute strategic initiatives within specified timeframes will be a key performance indicator. Additionally, your contribution to the optimization of processes, as evidenced by efficiency gains or cost savings, will be closely monitored. Furthermore, development of standardized planning and implementation tools will be assessed. These KPIs are designed to align with our organizational goals and ensure your impactful contributions to our ongoing success.

Your Team

You will be report directly to Regional Senior Manager of Industrial Engineering. You will collaborate closely with a group of dedicated professionals, each contributing their unique skills and expertise to our collective success. Currently, the overall plant construction and design team consists of approx. 60 talented individuals in roles such as construction management, construction design experts, product design and process design teams, logistic and plant operation teams, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment. What You Will Do

* KPI Management - Benchmarking and Continuous Improvement

* Plant Layout Optimization - Evaluate potential layout changes, manage revisions to plant layout CAD files

* Material Flow Analysis - Analyze conveyor capacity and location, analyze AGV capacities and quantities, optimize material flow from dock doors to warehouse to process areas, ensure adequate Kanban sizing in process areas, confirm buffer size for area to area and between process equipment, ensure safe movement for people and materials

* Capacity Planning - Work with Supply Chain to develop production plan, optimize line/shift patterns to meet production demand and minimize labor cost, maintain capacity and headcount model for each plant, support Operations team in developing annual labor budget, continuous line balance evaluation and recommendation of improvements, cycle time monitoring with Maintenance Engineering to identify bottlenecks

* Simulation Modeling - Maintain simulation model of each plant / product type, modify model based on changes to program assumptions

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You Need

* 3-5+ years of industrial engineering experience, expert knowledge of plant production and operations

* Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related engineering field and experience required.

* Experienced in AutoCAD, BIM 360 (or similar), Plant simulation software (Siemens Plant Simulation or Any Logic to model production flows, or similar), Business software Excel/Word/PowerPoint/MS 360.

* Strategic thinking and vision to optimize manufacturing operations.

* Communication with Global IE team to align initiatives and share best practices

* Project management abilities to deliver complex initiatives on time and budget

* Collaboration and relationship-building across global cross-functional partners

* Broad knowledge of battery production

* Lean manufacturing expertise to implement continuous improvement

* Analytics and modeling capabilities to simulate production systems

* Oversight of production ramp up, capacity planning, and labor requirements

* Knowledge of battery testing protocols and quality control processes

* Communication skills to align local and global organizations.
