Farnsworth Group is seeking an Accounting Manager to be based either in our Bloomington or Peoria, IL office. The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounts payable and account receivables, ensuring that invoices and receipts are processed accurately and on time. This role will be key to managing the financial health of the company by providing insights into cash flow, optimizing payment cycles, and ensuring compliance with company policies. You will be responsible for leading a small team, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring financial processes are efficient, transparent, and aligned with best practices.
Job Activities:


  • Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice receipt, verification, approval, and payment processing.
  • Ensure that all vendor accounts are managed efficiently and that payments are made accurately and timely.
  • Monitor outstanding payables and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and mentor A/P and A/R staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and development.
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures to ensure proper handling of all payables and financial transactions.
  • Work closely with the finance team to manage cash flow and optimize payment cycles.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure cost-effective payment terms and take advantage of any discounts or early payment opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain regular A/P and A/R reports for management, highlighting trends, outstanding payments, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring that all accounts payable transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • Leverage technology and automation tools to improve workflow and reduce manual tasks.


Specific Requirements include:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
  • 6+ years of experience in accounts payable/receivables, accounting, or finance,
  • Minimum of 2 years in a managerial role leading a small team (1-3 people)
  • Experience with project accounting is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capability to work across departments.

Salary Range: $78,000 to $102,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
