POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Design Engineer - Fluid Power Specialist will work closely with others in our engineering group as well as machinists, fabricators, assemblers, and programmers to produce world-class manufacturing equipment. This position designs and details complex, precision components and assemblies and prepares bills of material for production utilizing the most up-to-date 2D and 3D software. The working environment is fast paced and professional with advanced technology and challenging design projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Generate cost effective and simple-to-manufacture concepts to solve identified design issues

*Starting with mechanical assemblies or concepts, create engineered, fully detailed, functioning fluid power and mechanical designs that satisfy all constraints given.

*Gain familiarity with UNISIG product lines, coolant, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and their integration with machine tools.

*Selection of fluid power components including valves, manifolds, motors, pumps, transducers, filters, hoses, tubing, and fittings.

*Prepare detailed fluid power schematics, mechanical drawings, and bills of material for production.

*Hands-on evaluation of fluid power system operation and diagnostics of system failures.

*All other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

*Bachelor's degree in mechanical design or other relevant discipline plus 5+ years' experience in design of hydraulic circuits, selection of hydraulic components, and test/evaluation of hydraulic systems, or equivalent combination.

*Excellent work ethic, the ability to work self-directed, and the desire to advance the organization's product offerings.

*Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide direction/mentoring to other staff.

*Highly detail oriented and able to effectively manage their time to complete projects in a timely manner.

*Regularly sits throughout the day

*Regularly operates a computer, computer accessories, and phone equipment
