The Peer Support Program Coordinator will support the implementation and operationalization of the expansion to our existing Peer Support Program by performing administrative tasks needed to advance the work of the program. The peer support program is designed to offer support and hope to employees who have experienced critical stress incidents and will help ensure a community of engaged, resilient, front-line workforce who are prepared to succeed.

What you would do in this job
-
- Allocate resources and coordinate crisis intervention and response plans for employees affected by crisis in the workplace.
- Listen and provide support while connecting affected employees to Peer Support Team resources, such as a Peer Support Responder, the agency's authorized critical support vendor, and/or other resources.
- Collaborate with Metropolitans Council's EAP (AllOne Health) and internal support departments (MTP, OCC Health, Risk Management) on program involvements and to ensure employee needs are met.
- Collaborates with other work units, including labor units on individual case needs.
- Communicate directly with the Transit Control Center (TCC), Street Operations, and other affected departments on details of incident, crisis conditions, and operational logistics for response from the Peer Support Team.
- Monitor work performance of Peer Support Team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of all assigned peer support team tasks.
- Document work activity of the Peer Support Team Responders. This includes creating case management entries, coordinating plans for employee's successful return to work, and tracking requests for service.
- Participate in Peer Support Team meetings - record meeting minutes, lead logistics discussions, and present cases to be reviewed.
- Attend meetings and communicate status reports to Program Manager.
- Solicit, organize, and review qualitative and quantitative data related to employee feedback on the Peer Support Program.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
-
Any of the following combinations of related work experience (in transit, transportation, public safety, or similarly related environment), AND completed education (degree field of study in transit, transportation, public safety, or closely related):
- High school diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience
- Associate degree AND four (4) years of experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) years of experience
AND
- Successful completion of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam (must be obtained within six months of hire).
- Maintain ongoing education and training of at least 30 hours every two years in the areas of mental illness and recipient mental health services.
Licensure Requirement:
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Shift Requirement:
- This role is primarily scheduled during normal business hours. However, there may be instances where critical follow up is needed outside of normal business hours to help support our 24/7/365 Metro Transit operating environment.
What additional skills and experience would be helpful in the job (desired qualifications):
- Intermediate computer skills in word processing, complex spreadsheets, graphics presentations and database management (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Experience with administrative assistance work (e.g., organizing work schedules, managing documents, maintaining communications among a diverse group of people, planning/scheduling meetings, reviewing and revising documents, ensuring proper filing of documentation).
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or clients with sensitivity, courtesy, and collaboration.
- Ability to listen to others with empathy and support.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
- Lived personal or professional experience comparable to that of a front-line public transit employee.
- Knowledge of Metro Transit policies, procedures, and relevant collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience working effectively in a unionized environment including, understanding of labor relations issues, contract interpretation, and grievance procedures.
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:
- Knowledge of goals, operating procedures, workflow, and regulations regarding departments functions.
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the bus fleet and associated ERP and data systems.
- Knowledge of all relevant federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations including, Federal random drug testing requirements, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), EEO and Affirmative Action, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to interpret and apply mathematics and statistical methods and procedures gained through professional education training.
- Ability to assign and delegate work in a manner that aligns with the service requirements of Metro Transit.
- Successful completion of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam.

Union/Grade: Non-Represented Classified (NRC) / Grade F FLSA Status: Exempt Safety Sensitive: No What your work environment would be: Position works in an office environment. Some travel to other facilities is required. Up to one third of the time this position works near moving parts or equipment, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise.
