THE POSITION

Use your skilled trades experience to aid in our mission to protect, conserve, and enhance the Commonwealth's aquatic resources and provide fishing and boating opportunities!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

If you are looking for a seasonal position that will allow you to sharpen your maintenance and repair skills, our team at Lake Erie could use your help! This is a seasonal position currently budgeted for 34 weeks per fiscal year. Our seasonal staff are critical to ensuring that maintenance areas have the manpower required to maintain the facilities in their region during the busiest months of the year. You will work with the access maintenance crew that ensure accesses and ramps are safe for public use. Additionally, this position will allow for crews of two, ensuring that no one works alone and that everyone is able to safely complete the tasks assigned to them, such as mowing access areas and dam breasts. You can also expect to install docks and signage, weed eat, pickup litter, and make minor maintenance repairs on dams and spillways.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment (March through November). This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year.
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • There may be occasional travel, overnights, weekend, evening, holiday, or overtime work.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting hourly rate of pay may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
