DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a CAL Inspector, you will be performing statewide inspections, investigations, and enforcements of asbestos and lead-based paint abatement sites. Work includes inspecting project sites and retail locations selling bedding, upholstered furniture, and stuffed toys. You will be responsible for auditing asbestos and lead abatement training providers and preparing reports of your findings. Effective communication is essential for this position as you will serve as a resource and technical consultant for stake holders and the public on interpretation, implementation, adherence, and compliance/non-compliance of state and federal requirements. You will also have the opportunity to provide technical advice and guidance, including identification of problems and deficiencies to the administrator for processing of corrective actions to resolve problem areas in order to achieve full compliance and full accreditation status for training providers. - Full-time employment, home headquartered
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours may be negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Certification, Accreditation, and Licensing Inspector Trainee (commonwealth title); or
- Two years of experience in building maintenance or construction, workplace safety or inspection, retail sales, or customer service; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require at the time of hire a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker training course completion certificate, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker training course completion certificate, and a valid lead-based paint activities inspector training course completion certificate issued by a training provider accredited by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a state approved by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to accredit such providers.
- All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- All employees must obtain a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania asbestos worker certification, a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities worker certification, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lead-based paint activities inspector certification within the probationary period.
