Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated, professional candidate for its Long Term Care Supervisor role. The successful candidate will join the Public Benefits Unit and the diverse department that envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary

The Long Term Care Supervisor determines eligibility for long term care, refugee cash assistance, and auxiliary grants for assisted living residents, in addition to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and other categories of Medicaid. This position is critical in ensuring timely and accurate services to vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises a team of 6-8 Public Benefits Specialists that process complex cases to include Long Term Care Medicaid, Auxiliary Grants, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
  • Complete case reviews and approve payments for Long Term Care Medicaid and Auxiliary Grants.
  • Evaluate service delivery to ensure State timeliness and accuracy standards are met.
  • Serves as the back up to the Program Manager in their absence and provides recommendations for strategic planning and quality improvement.
  • Provides on-call support to customers that visit or call the agency.
  • Works closely with the Adult Services Unit and community stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing of applications and coordinate time-sensitive services.
  • Identifies gaps in workload coverage and assigns tasks to the Public Benefits Floater.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Health, or related field and three (3) years of related work experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Public Benefits policy knowledge and experience processing SNAP, Medicaid and Auxiliary applications and renewals.
  • Supervisor experience overseeing Public Benefits programs.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • This position may be assigned and required to work at an alternate work site(s) to carry out duties that support the needs of the County's residents or employees.
  • May be asked to work beyond regular scheduled workday including evenings and weekends, as required, to perform functions of position for assigned area.
  • Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
  • This position has a telework schedule of up to 2 days per week following 90 days and a successful evaluation of performance.
  • Pass pre-employment background checks to include criminal, credit, and fingerprinting (when required per VA Code).
