Job Summary

Loudoun County's Department of Economic Development is seeking a Small Business and Entrepreneurship Manager as part of the dynamic team behind the Launch Loudoun program. The priority of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Manager is to strengthen and grow the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Loudoun County while serving the existing small business community. To carry out this mission the four major goals include: creating a culture of entrepreneurship, engagement of resource partners, promoting business participation and success, and working directly with small businesses in, or considering locating to, Loudoun County, VA.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, adaptability, and a strategic mindset. They will be able to navigate the challenges of a dynamic business environment, making decisions that drive growth and innovation. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to collaborate with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders. Entrepreneurial spirit, resilience in the face of uncertainty, and a passion for fostering new opportunities are key traits that ensure success in the role.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, International Studies, International Economic Development, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field; three (3) years of related work experience preferably in project management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A solid understanding of financial management, marketing strategies, legal, human resources, and small business development is highly desirable. International Economic Development Council's (IEDC's) Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Economic Development Professional (EDP) certifications, or a Certified Business Advisor (CBA) designation are also highly desirable.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Early morning, evening, weekend work as required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV background checks.
