Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Digital Applications Manager, the position will help implement the continued development of the UC Davis Aggie Experts. The Aggie Experts team includes contributions from senior design personnel, application programmers, UI design, and project owners. This career position ends 24 months from the date of hire, with the possibility of an extension or becoming indefinite.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
* Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating practical data management programming experience.
* Demonstrated experience in JavaScript and NodeJS programming.
* Experience in web, client/server and API design including planning and developing design prototypes.
* Experience with general programming standard practices, including software management tools, testing frameworks, and documentation.
* Experience administering a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) including entity relationship diagrams; performance tuning and query optimization; data import, export, and transformation. Experience in extract, transform, load (ETL) processing workflows.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience managing library, scientific, or cultural data and integrating with online information services.
* Experience in linked database design, including knowledge databases, SPARQL query language, and triple store databases. Experience with open-source database solutions, including: PostgreSQL, SOLR, Jena, and Mongo. Experience in application data management using messaging queues.
* Experience using containerized software solutions such as Docker or Kubernetes.

Department Overview
The position will maintain workflows controlling data flow; extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes for the system. This includes the specification and development of standard APIs for data access.
The position combines direct backend application development and collaborative planning.
