Job Responsibilities: Research 4 - Project Management - Masonic Institute on Biology of Aging and Metabolism The program manager will facilitate most of the activities of the newly funded Minnesota Nathan Shock Center of Excellence (MN NSC) including coordinating monthly meetings of the core directors, meeting with the MN NSC director weekly, organizing the yearly symposium, establishing cooperative agreements, oversee the progress made by the cores including data acquisition and distribution, organize reviews of the pilot grant applications, coordinate receiving and shipping of samples, interacting with NIH staff and facilitating interactions with others Nathan Shock Centers. 40% Program Management: - Serve as the primary point of contact for the Minnesota Nathan Shock Center for stakeholders such as NIH staff, core directors, and internal and external faculty members, to enhance communication across grant sites, research programs, and external vendors/services. - Develop program plans considering contingencies across projects and facilitate external stakeholder engagement and reporting. - Design and implement processes to monitor and track experimental progress across the program lifecycle identifying the critical path to meet grant deadlines. Leveraging project management tools to prioritize activities to meet objectives and deadlines. - Prepare detailed reports for grant proposals/renewals, departmental presentations, and publications, managing all necessary regulatory documents. - Ensure that all projects are fully compliant with GCPs, federal regulations and University and Clinical partner policies and procedures. 40% Project Management: - Develop and implement comprehensive timelines, project plans, and identify resources to manage and meet deadlines. - Lead and coordinate research and data collection activities across the experimental timeline, from clinical tissue collection through platform analysis and data upload. - Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in partner with the Biological Analysis Core (BAC) to ensure compliance and ensure accurate documentation of protocols, metadata, and related experiment information. - Assist in coordinating experiments including the procurement of materials and vendor management, if needed. - Coordinate with the Data Analysis Core (DAC) on the submission of data to the SenNet data coordination hub, including the uploading of protocols, source metadata, and sample metadata. - Manage meeting schedules, agendas, discussions, and notes for the core directors and collaborating groups. Ensure reliable communication of ideas and dissemination of materials to those unable to attend, facilitating effective collaboration and decision-making. 20% General Support and Administration: - Identify, summarize and share action items for each meeting along with necessary timelines. Track action item progress and follow up as needed. - Develop and implement document management plan. - Coordinate the shipment of experimental goods, including biological samples, ensuring compliance with GCPs, federal regulations, and partner policies. - Assist in planning and organizing the MN Nathan Shock Center of Excellence yearly symposium. Qualifications
All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: - BA/BS plus at least 5 years of experience or advanced degree plus 3 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal nine years; often the senior-most individual contributor in a department to whom other more junior employees go to for technical guidance. - Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously - Excellent written and communication skills - Excellent computer and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. - The candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, an ability to multitask and to work independently. Preferred Qualifications: - Applicants should have an interest in health sciences and interest in working with human clinical samples. - Experience with academic research practice and grant/protocol development including IRB processes and study design and implementation, project data collection and analysis. - Experience in molecular biology techniques, cell/tissue culture, imaging, or working with human clinical samples. About the Department
Masonic Institute on Biology of Aging and Metabolism Our research program is focused on investigating the underlying causes of aging. We use mouse models extensively, employing both genetic and pharmacologic approaches to interrogate mechanisms of aging. Aging is investigated in vivo by measuring senescence, frailty, organ function and behavior. The candidate will join an exciting research environment in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics and the Institute on the Biology of Aging and Metabolism at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
