Senior Mechanical Engineer

A senior engineer at Fike Corporation has the opportunity to lead and contribute to new designs in a wide array of applications, build and improve internal processes, help solve customer problems, and work in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

1. Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.

2. Creates, implements, and publishes test procedures and results

3. Uses test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.

4. Evaluates test results for possible application to development of other uses.

5. Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.

6. Performs project and system design.

7. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.

8. Confers with other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.

9. Develops new methods and techniques for pressure protections, rupture discs and related products.

10. Makes recommendations to appropriate personnel on improvements to current production processes to increase efficiency.

11. Researches high level complex product problems and concerns.

12. Interacts with customers to provide engineered solutions to their requirements and product problems.

13. Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing processes.

14. Provides support to the sales department in calculations and application information.

1. Excellent communication skills for conferring with Production, Quality, Sales, and other internal departments
2. Ability to navigate welding codes and customer weld specifications to create the required documentation such as procedure qualification records, weld procedure specifications, and welder performance qualifications for various welding processes (such as EBW, GTAW, SAW, and GMAW)
3. 3D computer aided design modeling for performing engineering and design tasks
4. Ability to navigate, interpret, and apply industry codes and standards such as ASME BPVC, ASTM, CGA, NFPA, etc.
5. Act as a consultant and mentor to less experienced engineers and drafters
6. Communication with notified bodies such as UL, FM, etc.) for product approvals
7. Create engineering design calculations per codes and standards and defend calculations to third party agencies

Work will be performed in an office environment or an industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Eight years related post degree experience. Experience with welding programs and processes.

PREFERRED: Registered Professional Engineer. Master's degree in a related technical field. Background in pressure vessel or similar design experience. Experience in non-destructive examination. 3D design automation experience
