Senior Tech Product Owner - Commercial Lending and Payments

Position Summary:

The Senior Commercial Lending and Payments Tech Product Owner independently oversees the technology aspects of commercial lending and payments products and services and enables the organization to deliver best-in-class experiences, treasury and cash management functionality products, and services for our small and micro business members, as well as for our medium sized businesses and public funds depositors, through technology and strong partnership between business, operations, and all other organizational ecosystems and stakeholders.They are primarily responsible for maximizing the value delivered by Agile teams by ensuring that the team's lending backlog is aligned with members' and stakeholder needs. This role requires a unique blend of technical knowledge and product vision, to ensure that new products and feature enhancements are compliant with legal/regulatory requirements, align with business objectives, and deliver value to the organization and its members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and define payments and commercial lending product vision, strategy, roadmap, and product-market fit to achieve business goals for payments, SMB, medium sized business, and public funds depositors.
  • Assess feasibility of financial services technology and how they can be leveraged through product development and/or configuration to achieve business objectives; is able to translate business needs and pain points into detailed technical functional and non-functional requirements for developers and other agile team members to execute on.
  • Serves as a Tech Product functional leader for the Commercial lending line of business in partnership with Lending Operations, Sales, and other areas of the organization.
  • Leads the design and development of lending and payments strategies, including member acquisition and retention, in a dynamic growth landscape.
  • Monitor and understand external conditions, including markets (local and global), competitions, demographics, and local regulations to design product unique selling proposition (USP) and customer (member) value proposition (CVP,) to ensure Lending products and services and meet members needs while maintaining market competitiveness, product compliance and profitability.
  • Closely collaborate with UI/UX and MX teams and vendors to deliver excellent member experience through Digital onboarding platform, Payment hubs, and Loan Origination Systems (LOS)
  • Closely collaborate with Business, Marketing, and Operations teams to roll out products and member communication plans, as well as to design and optimize member engagement processes
  • Act as project leader and join User Acceptance Testing for new and current product initiatives launch
  • Comply with all relevant lending and risk governance in the market and within TDECU.
  • Define and review success metrics, key product performance indicators, funnel conversion rate, product revenue and design the continuous improvement plan
  • Collaborate with Risk and Debt collection departments to understand the pain points of non-performing loan and redesign the product policies to align with business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or another related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum8 years of working experience with commercial lending products in banks, credit unions, or fintech, treasury and cash management services, with strong understanding of the lending technology, regulations, and market practices.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with payment products and services,knowledge of various payment methods, processing flows, industry regulations, and technical integrations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of commercial lending products, treasury and cash management functionality products, and services for small and micro business members, as well as for medium sized businesses and public funds depositors.
  • Knowledge of payment gateways, APIs, card networks (Visa, Mastercard), ACH, real-time payments, and alternative payment methods (APMs).
  • Understanding of security protocols like PCI DSS and encryption standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant payment processing systems and integration points.
  • Passionate about designing a seamless member experience across different payment channels;often requiring experience with agile methodologies and data analysis to monitor key performance metrics related to payment transactions.
  • A natural digital aficionado who keeps abreast the latest digital trends and with proven ability to deal with ambiguous situations.
  • Working experience in an agile environment and methodologies. Backlog management, feature prioritizationthrough stakeholder collaboration toensure a seamless memberexperience with commercial lending products and different payment channels.
  • Ability to manage complex projects from planning, prioritization, development, and delivery of commercial lending andpayment solutions, while partnering withbusiness, technology, compliance, legal and riskstakeholders.
  • Strong sense of business objectives and ability to think in a member-centric approach while equally being able to pivot around new ideas in an agile way-of-working.
  • Willingness to try and fail with new concepts and new ways of thinking. Comfortable with uncertainty for outcomes.
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills, and ability to influence others
  • Ability to anticipate, act proactively, and work both autonomously and as a team player. Includes ability to work with multiple stakeholders and build relationships across multiple departments
  • High degree of ownership and constructive sense of urgency
  • Ability to handle competing priorities, tight turnaround and multiple deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills

  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days on-site work. Our retail roles are required to be onsite at the branch locations.
