JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

The Items Processing Specialist is primarily responsible for analyzing transactional images and supporting data, determining proper handling and account application, and reconciling and balancing accounts. In performing these duties, the position will be required to monitors workflow and meet crucial production deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and monitors vendor services to ensure service level agreements are met and maintained.
  • Reconciles general ledger and core applications, and internal operating accounts.
  • Processes documents or paperwork requiring a thorough knowledge of procedures in support of bank operations. Ensures transactions are classified and recorded according to established procedures.
  • Balances and repairs POD, merchant and consumer capture transactions; creates corrections when transactions are out of balance; and analyzes bank accounting transactions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicates with branches via message system on beginning of day confirmations, rescans needed, out of balance conditions, missing tickets, incorrect tickets, and end of day confirmations.
  • Performs routine clerical duties requiring exercise of judgment and a detailed knowledge of departmental procedures.
  • Import and Export files from endpoints for processing.
  • Performs End of Day Balancing and End of Day processing to ensure balance-run totals match daily uploads.
  • Performs routine maintenance of imaging systems according to vendor recommendations ensuring readable encoding and endorsements. Coordinates the development and implementation of new procedures, processes and image system releases with other functional areas as required during.
  • Supports daily technical issues with the image capture system through timely resolution of problems to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of images of customers' transactions. Communicates with technical support to troubleshoot software/hardware problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree preferred
  • 1 year of previous Bank Item Processing experience or 2 years of similar experience to include reconciliation and balancing.
  • Ability to learn and proficiently operate applicable software and systems.
  • Proficient operation of Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers and bank personnel.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to discern between various images
  • The ability work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks in an often fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with customers, branches, departments, vendors, and upper management
  • Ability to solve routine problems by formulating sound conclusions independently; refers more complex problems to management.
  • Ability to resolve issues with account transactions that may require extensive research.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
