We are looking for a compassionate Nurse Manager to join our nursing team! The Psychiatric RN at Mount Carmel Behavioral Health is a clinical professional that will work closely with each field throughout our facility to ensure our patients are receiving exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining high standards of care, and supporting a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Collaboration with CNP: Work directly with the Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP) to coordinate patient care, address clinical issues, and ensure seamless integration of nursing and advanced practice roles.
- Support Nurse Educator: Partner with the Nurse Educator to orient new staff, provide ongoing training, and assist with continuing education efforts to ensure nursing staff are well-prepared and up-to-date on best practices and protocols.
- Infection Prevention: Work with infection prevention teams to ensure adherence to infection control protocols. Educate staff on safe practices, monitor compliance, and help drive initiatives to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
- Specimen Collection: Oversee the collection and handling of lab specimens by nursing staff, ensuring accuracy in collection, documentation, and timely submission to labs.
- Disciplinary Action: Handle real-time performance issues by providing constructive and respectful feedback, delivering disciplinary actions when necessary, and maintaining a supportive environment for staff improvement.
- Self-Directed Work: Take initiative in managing daily operations, problem-solving, and identifying areas for process improvements. Ability to make decisions independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Process Implementation & Change Management: Lead the introduction of new clinical processes or systems, ensure successful implementation, and provide training and ongoing support for staff to ensure effective adoption.
- Investigation & Follow-Up: Investigate incidents or concerns within the nursing team, conduct thorough follow-ups, and take appropriate action to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
- Multitasking & Prioritization: Efficiently manage multiple priorities and responsibilities, balancing patient care needs with operational demands.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with nursing supervisors, CNO, and other leaders to resolve challenges, support nursing initiatives, and foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Communication: Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear and professional interactions with staff, patients, and leadership.
- EMR Proficiency: Utilize WellSky Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to maintain accurate patient documentation, manage workflows, and streamline clinical operations.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with active state licensure.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience with infection prevention and understanding of infection control protocols.
- Experience in obtaining lab specimens and ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Experience delivering disciplinary action in a timely, respectful, and constructive manner.
- Familiarity with WellSky EMR or similar systems is highly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and self-manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of staff and leadership.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills in high-stress situations.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
