SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the VP IT infrastructure, this position would be responsible for the architecture, design, support, maintenance, and implementation of the credit union's on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure. This includes hardware & software, cloud services acquisition, installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. The infrastructure engineer leads IT infrastructure projects, troubleshoots complex issues, and collaborates with cross-functional teams and external vendors to meet IT infrastructure needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Systems Design and Engineering:



  • Architect, design and maintain the credit union's corporate on-premise and cloud infrastructure including networking, firewalls, IPS/IDS, VDI, and virtual and physical servers (Linux, Microsoft, VMware, ESXi, Azure); carry out the infrastructure maintenance and configurations for backup and disaster recovery purposes.
  • Optimize, modernize and manage IT infrastructure solutions and operational processes.
  • Engineer and manage Azure virtual networking and compute infrastructure.
  • Create scripts to automate task and configuration items using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
  • Deploy, monitor, administer, and troubleshoot virtual desktop environment.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the on-premise, IaaS and cloud solutions including the compliance with APGFCU, NCUA, industry and information security principles and best practices.
  • Design and maintain the offsite and cloud infrastructure and participate in annual disaster recovery testing; ensuring all recovery point objectives are met according to procedures.
  • Proactively monitor on-premise, IaaS, and cloud systems for performance, capacity management and resolve any issues.
  • Serve as technical project lead on IT and corporate projects and provide technical and functional IT infrastructure expertise including Azure and AWS cloud services, Azure AD, network connectivity and access solutions, VMs, VDI, patching, DR and backup.
  • Provide engineering support for IIS, SQL and other web-based solutions.
  • Create and maintain all documentation for on-premise and cloud infrastructure including network diagrams, . Ensure that licensing is accurate and up to date. Keep an accurate inventory of the infrastructure and applications. Adhere to established change management and turnover log procedures.
  • Inform IT management of technical advances affecting the information technology field and make recommendations for improvements in the infrastructure.


Cloud Services:



  • Design, deploy, configure and manage cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS) ensuring security, performance and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain software solutions/scripts to support automation of cloud configuration and administration.
  • Engineer, support and troubleshoot Azure Active Directory and SSO.


Project Management:



  • Lead internal technical projects with implementation of infrastructure deployments, upgrades and migrations.
  • Evaluate project proposals, implement project life-cycle and manage approved projects.
  • Ensure that technical specifications meet the credit union infrastructure guidelines and with the implementation of corporate wide, I.T related projects.


Information Security:



  • Work directly with firewall, IDS, IPS and use network monitoring tools to carefully examine network traffic, patch requirements and to identify both external and internal threats to ensure credit union's on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with the VP of infrastructure in designing a multi-layer security strategy to protect credit union information assets.


Professional Development:



  • Remain current with developments in the information technology field and their potential impact on the credit union's present and future needs.
  • Continue technical professional development through seminars and workshops, membership in technical and professional organizations, and through reading technical publications and journals.
  • Network with others in the credit union industry and interface with vendors.
  • Maintain certification requirements and work towards acquiring new certifications as required.


Other:



  • Must be available to work after hours and be on call 24/7/365.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.


ADDITIONAL: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical field. Certification in the following areas is preferred. (Cloud technologies like Azure and AWS, MCITP, CCNA, CCNP,). Experience can be credited in lieu of education.

EXPERIENCE: Five plus years of work experience in a enterprise environment consisting of Microsoft servers, virtualization, Linux, Cisco routers, and switches. Five years of hands-on experience with Azure or AWS cloud. Expert level experience with Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, MS SQL Server, IIS, M365, Azure AD, virtualization, SANs, vSphere, and VDI.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong background in on-premise and cloud IT infrastructure including networking, storage, virtualization, virtual desktop solutions, and cyber security. Ability to perform architecture, migrations, build and deployment of systems, and applications in the cloud. Ability to script administrative tasks via PowerShell, Python and other scripting tools. Ability to handle day-to-day operations, troubleshooting network connectivity problems and application issues. Must have good communication, problem solving and time management skills.
