Job Overview:

The Controlled Fluidics Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and direction of an engineering team dedicated to supporting Controlled Fluidics precision machined engineered plastic precision machined components, single layer and multilayer bonded fluidics manifolds. Typical markets served include high growth life sciences, environmental, aerospace/defense and other high-tech markets. The core engineering team is in Wallingford, CT, however, provides technical support to a 2nd manufacturing location in Milford, NH and Global Account Management, Sales and Service across the globe. This team will oversee existing product capabilities (precision machined plastics, bonded manifolds), ensuring that they remain competitive in their markets or channel by maintaining product performance, reliability, and profitability throughout the product life cycle. Responsible for day-to-day activities of manufacturing engineering, design/R&D, regulatory, quality support and sustaining engineering.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead a manufacturing/design engineering team focused on OEM specific projects requiring design, CNC programing as well as supporting tooling and fixture development.


  • Manage team that designs, manufactures and support Engineered-to-order projects to a timeline, scope and cost mutually agreed with the customer.


  • Supports and implements automation, robotics and lights out manufacturing best practices.


  • Develop and manage effective sustaining engineering practices to support released products.


  • Development/i2V/Sustaining/product roadmap: Overall responsibility for global engineering & product management activities for Controlled Fluidics.


  • Support sales in winning OEM specific sales projects.


  • Effectively support New Product Development (NPD) activities necessary to enhance product performance, extend the product line to meet the needs of our global business and ensure compliance
    to ever changing regulatory requirements.


  • Assign quality issues through team members who will actively participate in solving the issue. Prioritize and resolve any product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency.


  • Accountability for annual productivity targets through active engagement with product managers, commodity managers, planners & buyers, and operations to develop and execute a list of active and pipeline projects.


  • Work closely with the Plant Managers to assure sufficient engineering support for resolution of production interruptions and commercialization of new parts to manufacturing. Support problem solving to ensure manufacturing continuity, efficiency and focus on 100% OTD to provide a premier customer experience.


  • Supports development and execution of short- and long-term strategies to deliver revenue, margin and EBITDA goals.


  • Manage the active development of direct reports and assure a robust succession plan.




Requirements:

Formal Education
:


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline required, Master's degree preferred.





Experience


  • 7+ years of experience in a similar Engineering role is required.


  • At least 3 years in a technical leadership capacity leading at least 5-member team, such as Engineering Supervisor or Program Manager in a precision plastic machining environment.


  • Must have ability to program 5 axis CNC machines and CNC lathes, with robotics for manufacturing preferred.


  • Experience in working with and precision machining of plastics required.


  • Experience working with customers with an engineered OEM specific product in high pace, high growth environment.





Knowledge


  • CNC and CMM programming, tooling and fixture design.


  • Expertise in design and manufacturing principles, with preferred experience in engineered plastics, precision machining of plastics and various methods of plastics bonding, especially for use in fluidic manifolds.


  • Hands on experience in new product development from idea through implementing in manufacturing.


  • Experience working with Quality team in supporting the resolution of QC issues.


  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and lead multiple concurrent projects and key initiatives based on the distinct needs of the business.


  • Capable of meeting technical project challenges within specified time frame and cost.


  • This overall task requires careful guidance and direction of various levels of subordinates on both detailed technical issues and overall project coordination and integration.


  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively across all levels internally and with external organizations (customers).

Travel & work Arrangements/Requirements


  • This role is fully on-site and occasional travel may be required, estimated at 10%.
